Dear Parents and Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already beginning the last full week of September!
Here are some important dates that you should know:
-September 23rd Listen and Learn @ East Lansing Public Library with Dr. Thompson-Superintendant
-September 26th 9:05-9:45 AM-Glencairn Fun Run
-September 26th-September Book Orders are Due!
-October 21st-October 23rd-Parent-Teacher Conferences
Curriculum
This month your children have started focusing on reviewing concepts related to addition and subtraction in math. In reading we are working on a new phonics strategy weekly. The comprehension focus this month has been retelling a story in sequence and correctly identifying sequence words. In writing, your students are writing personal narratives, which are small moment true stories about their lives. In social studies, the students have learned about our U.S. Constitution and its importance to us. We have also started our unit on Michigan Geography. Lastly, in science the students have started observing different types of rocks and minerals and identifying similarities and differences between them.
October
If you have not yet signed up for a parent-teacher conference, please be sure to visit the website to sign up: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0F49A5A722A7FF2-fall/
Please also let me know if I can accommodate you if you are unable to attend during the scheduled conference times and dates.
If your child has a birthday in October, we will be celebrating that at the same time as Halloween on Friday, October 31st. Be on the look out in the next couple of weeks for a Sign Up Genius for the Halloween Party!
Important Reminders
1) Please make sure your child brings a healthy snack to school DAILY! I am providing snacks to children who forget to bring a snack, but we are running out fast. Please send your child with a snack every day.
2) Please be sure to correct and sign your child's homework NIGHTLY! Also, please be sure that you are checking the Math Homework Help page on my website: http://msbean.weebly.com/math-homework-help-addition-and-subtraction.html if there is any confusion about how to complete the math homework.
3) Reading Logs, Take-Home Books, and Library Books are due EVERY MONDAY!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. Bean :)
