Dear 3rd Grade Parents and Families,
Welcome to a new year at Red Cedar Elementary! Let's make it the best one yet! I have really enjoyed getting to know your children this week as we learn more about one another and our learning styles.
This week was filled with lessons on appropriate behavior, new procedures, beginning of the year assessments, and activities to help us learn more about the people we will be spending the year with in our classroom community!
Next week we get down to business by finishing up beginning of the year assessments and starting curriculum. We will start the year in math reviewing addition and subtraction to get ready for the MEAP test in October. In social studies, we will begin the year learning about Michigan Geography. In writing, our first unit will be Personal Narratives, which are true, small-moment, stories written with a lot of detail.
Be sure to check back on this blog to see notes from me and respond to questions to help me support you and your child at home more effectively! I look forward to getting to know all of you more at Curriculum Night this Thursday, September 12th. The ELL parent meeting begins at 5:30, followed by a pizza dinner at 6:00 and the informational portion beginning at 6:30 PM. I hope to see you all then!
Sincerely,
Ms. Bean :)
