Dear Parents and Families,
I have enjoyed meeting with many of you already for parent teacher conferences! It is so nice to share your child's successes and growth with you!
This week we have half days on Tuesday and Thursday and no school on Friday for conferences. Please make sure that your child knows what to do and where to go on the half days.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12th, we will be having a guest author visit our classroom for March is Reading Month. The author is 11 year old Olivia Wittman! Copies of her book will be on sale for $15 and Olivia will be signing the copies purchased. If you child is interested in purchasing a book, please send $15 in cash or write a check for $15 to "Liv Via" for tomorrow.
The children will have library on Thursday, so please make sure to send their library books back to school so that they can select new books for the long weekend. There will be no homework this week besides the reading as we have shortened days and exciting events on Wednesday.
Next week your child will be participating in a district initiative to give students experience taking the Smarter Balance Assessments, which are one of the assessments that the state is currently deciding on that may replace the MEAP test. These assessments are computer based. Your child will be one of the first in the state to participate in this unique opportunity. Their scores will not count, but will give the state and district information about the tests themselves. Please make sure your child is well rested next week and has access to a hearty breakfast.
Thank you so much and enjoy your long weekend! :)
Sincerely,
Ms. Bean
