Dear Parents and Families,
I wanted to send a quick note about homework and reading logs.
Homework
Your child will have homework daily Monday-Thursday. Tonight's homework is a spelling practice sheet. This homework page should be corrected and signed by an adult and returned tomorrow. Homework will typically be math, but may also be a spelling or reading page. The homework page should not take more than 10-15 minutes nightly. If you are finding that your child is struggling, please write me a note on the homework and I can work with them on the concept further at school. Be sure to check out the Math Homework Help section of my website for videos of the math concepts:

My homework policy is that if students forget to return their homework the next day, they have 24 hours from the due date to bring it to me. If they forget again, they will have to stay in during afternoon recess to complete their homework.
Reading Logs
Today your child brought home a reading log. This reading log should be used to record your child's reading (at least 20 minutes per day!). The completed reading log is due each Monday and should be signed by a parent! Very soon your child will be bringing home book from my classroom and the school library to read at home.
Spelling
The students will take a spelling practice test each Monday. I will send home the practice test attached to the spelling list each Monday. Please practice these words during the week. The students will take their actual spelling test each Friday. This website is a great place to practice spelling words! http://www.spellingcity.com/beandar1/
The spelling words are already entered for every unit!
I do not typically provide "extra homework" as I believe children should also play and socialize! If you are interested in your child having more activities for learning, please feel free to check out my Websites for Kids section of my website: http://msbean.weebly.com/websites-for-kids.html
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you so much for your support!
Your partner in education,
Daryl Bean
