Meet Ms. Bean!
Hello! My name is Daryl Bean and I am currently a 3rd grade teacher at Glencairn Elementary School in East Lansing, Michigan. I am in my ninth year of teaching! I have the honor of teaching in the same district that I did my internship! Click HERE to read all about my internship experience!
I am a graduate of the best university in the world, Michigan State University! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts. I am certified to teach Kindergarten through 5th grade all subjects and 6th-8th grade in the area of Language Arts. I earned my Masters' Degree in 2012 from Michigan State University in Teaching and Curriculum with a specialization in Literacy.
I am interested in all sports especially football and hockey. I love waterskiing and snow skiing. In October 2016, I ran my first marathon and my goal is to do another full marathon...that's 26.2 miles! My favorite color is GREEN! and my favorite author is Jane Austen. I love all types of music, but most of all I love teaching kids!
My first year of teaching, my class started a "Make the world more beautiful" campaign and we jump started a program to recycle the milk jugs at our school! We saved our school lots of money in trash removal! My goal for my new school this year is to encourage our school to purchase biodegradable lunch trays instead of the styrofoam. As you can see I really live by the saying, GO GREEN!
At Red Cedar Elementary I was the coach of our Red Cedar Rockets Jump Rope Team. I have continued the program at Glencairn Elementary. I hope that you will consider joining the team if you are in 3rd-5th grade! We practice three times a week during our afternoon recess and put on at least one show during the year!
Well that's a little about me. If you need to know anything else, feel free to e-mail me: [email protected] . I'd love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Daryl Bean
